Morgan Palmer, an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Classics and Religious Studies, presented her paper "Persistence Amidst Crisis: The Vestal Virgins and Communal Resilience" at the 2021 European Association for the Study of Religions conference on "Resilient Religion" hosted by the University of Pisa.
She was part of the panel "Recovering from Crises—Forging Resilience: The Role of Religious Narratives in Fashioning Socio-Political Stability in Antiquity" organized by Marika Rauhala of the University of Oulu, Finland and Darja Šterbenc Erker of Humbolt University, Germany and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Palmer's research and teaching explore the intersections between Latin literature, epigraphy, and Roman history and religion while relating classical studies to religious studies and women's studies.
The EASR promotes the academic study of religions through the international collaboration of scholars in Europe whose research has a bearing on the subject. The event serves as a regional conference for the International Association for the History of Religions.
