Michael Lippman, associate professor of practice in the Department of Classics and Religious Studies, has received a 2018 Award for Excellence in Teaching of the Classics at the College Level from the Society for Classical Studies.
The award is designed to "give special and public expression to the Society's commitment to honor and foster excellence in the teaching of the Classics." It comes with a $500 prize for the recipient and a $200 prize for their institution, as well as recognition at the society's annual meeting.
"Dr. Lippman's innovative pedagogy compels profound, personal, and critical engagement among his students," the society said in the announcement on their website. "One of his colleagues at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln comments on his 'Pied-Piper-like ability to bring students into our department.'"
