Good News in CLRS

Check out these accomplishments!

Vanessa Gorman has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition for Contributions to Students by the Division of Student Affairs, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Teaching Council and the UNL Parents Association. Congratulations, Vanessa!

Steve Lahey has been awarded the Cotner College Professorship in Religious Studies, effective August 15, 2022. This is an endowed professorship that originated with our departed colleague John Turner many years ago. It is awarded to a scholar of international prominence whose work deals with Biblical studies. Congratulations, Steve!

CRS advisor Sarah Feit has been awarded the Region 6 NACADA Excellence in Advising - New Advisor award. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as an advisor for a period of three or fewer years. (For reference, Region 6 includes institutions within the states of Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota and provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.) Congratulations, Sarah!

CRS alumnus Robert Rucker (B.A. Religious Studies, 2017), who went on to get an M.A. in Medieval & Renaissance Studies at UNL, has accepted the position of Religious Coordinator at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. Robert is in charge of making sure that the First Amendment religious rights of incarcerated individuals are honored. He credits his training in religious studies and in research that he received in our department with being able to obtain and perform this job, and has offered to speak with our majors about career paths after graduation. Congratulations, Robert!
