Emily Markides and Kyriacos Markides of the University of Maine will each give a talk on Feb. 24 in the City Union's Swanson Auditorium. The event is co-sponsored by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Lincoln.
Emily Markides, lecturer in peace and reconciliation studies, will open with the talk "Religión, Ecology and Peace: the Case of Agia Skepi" at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A session.
Kyriacos Markides, emeritus professor of sociology and author of The Mountain of Silence, will close the event with the talk "The Increasing Displacement of Materialism by Modern Science and My Encounter with Mystical Christianity" at 3:30 p.m.
